ANDREW JOHNSON BANK ANNOUNCES GIFT TO COUNTY SCHOOL FOUNDATION, Greene LEAF
Bill Hickerson, President and CEO of Andrew Johnson Bank, announces that the Bank will make a contribution to the Greene LEAF (Local Education Advancement Foundation) for Greene County Schools and Greeneville City School Education Foundation $25,000 each for a total contribution to education of $50,000.
Hickerson states, “Andrew Johnson Bank and its Board of Directors recognize the value of a positive and purposeful educational experience for Greene County and Greeneville City students. To show our support of our city and county public schools--the faculty and administration--and our students, who represent our future, we are proud to be able to make a donation on their behalf and for the greater good of our community.”
The donation is in direct response to a general request from Darlene McCleish, Executive Director of Greene LEAF, an organization launched in March; and Amanda Waddell, Executive Director of the Greeneville City School Education Foundation, to fund vital technology in the classroom. Both local school foundations are working to improve access to technology for all students and this donation is a great boost to this initiative.
“We are excited that the funds will go towards a continued investment in technology, which will better prepare our students for the future. We see this as an investment in the future of our community--in jobs and in our economy,” says Hickerson.
"This is an amazing, groundbreaking commitment from Andrew Johnson Bank. The Board of Greene LEAF is very appreciative of the leadership of AJ Bank for donating equally to both Greene County Foundation and Greeneville City," stated Executive Director of Greene LEAF, Darlene McCleish. "This generous gift means so much to our students and staff."
